PSNI Appeal - Burglary



Detectives are appealing for information following a burglary in the Bonds Road area of Silverbridge, at approximately 6.50am on Monday 29th June.

Detective Sergeant Johnston said “It is believed that five masked men have gained entry to the property, causing damage and assaulting the resident, a man aged in his 30s who sustained minor injuries. The suspects then fled in a stolen grey Mercedes. The vehicle was later found to have been set alight in the New Road area of Cullyhanna."

Animal Cruelty Conviction - Belfast



Belfast City Council initiated a prosecution Ms Jessica Edwards, of Ashfield Court after receiving a complaint regarding a dog left unattended for a number of days at the property. Animal Welfare discovered the bodies of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog and two rabbits at the premises. All three animals showed clear signs of starvation.

Ms Edwards was handed a 180-hour Community Service Order, ordered to pay legal and court costs of £198, and disqualified from owning any animal for a period of ten years.

Animal Welfare Offences - Belfast



Following a case brought by Belfast City Council, Mr Michael Valliday, of Albert Court, was convicted and sentenced for animal welfare offences.

The prosecution followed complaints that a dog was showing signs of starvation at the Albert Court property. Animal Welfare Officers attended the premises on 5 December 2025 and took a severely underweight Akita type dog into the care of the council.

Mr Valliday was convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and failing to ensure the welfare of an animal. He was handed a 100-hour Community Service Order, ordered to pay legal and court costs of £182, and disqualified from owning any animal for a period of ten years.

Man Critical After Road Traffic Accident - Appeal



Police in Dromore are appealing for information and witnesses following a road traffic collision involving a male pedestrian and a car in the early hours of Sunday 28th June.

Inspector Woods said: “We received a report at around 1.50am of a road traffic collision in the vicinity of MarketSquare, Dromore. It was reported a pedestrian had been struck by a black Toyota Yaris, which then made off from the scene. “A 28 year-old man was subsequentlytaken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Anyone who witnessed, has mobile or dash-cam footage should call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers.

Road Traffic Death



PSNI confirm a man has sadly died following a serious road traffic collision in Cushendall on Sunday28th June.

Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Shortly before one pm, police received and responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on the Chapel Road. Sadly, the male rider of a motorcycle, who was 55 years old, and from the Bellaghy area, died at the scene."

Robbery Lisburn Road Area - Appeal



Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a robbery in south Belfast on Sunday evening, 28th June.

Detective Sergeant Faulkner said: “At approximately 8.40pm, a man entered an off-licence in the Lisburn Road area. He then left, and returned a short time later at 9pm, producing a large kitchen-style knife at the till, demanding money. The suspect then fled the scene with a sum of cash on a red bicycle in the direction of Donnybrook Street."

Suspicious Death



Police are currently at the scene of a suspicious death in the Helen’s Wood Court area of Dunmurry in west Belfast.

One person has been arrested and remains in police custody at this time. Enquiries are ongoing.

Road Traffic Death



The Police Service of Northern Ireland can confirm that a man who sadly died following a single-vehicle collision in Ballyclare on Friday evening, 26thJune, was 31-year-old Matthew McIlroy, from the Co Antrim area.
