Northern Bank To Close
The Danish-owned bank group, Northern Bank is
planning to close five more branches across
Northern Ireland despite five other branch
closures last year.
The closures will take effect over the next few
months and will see the closure of three Belfast
branches including the branch based at
Ballyhackamore. Other Belfast branches to close
are the Castlereagh Road and Boucher Road
branches.
The recent closures come despite a 2008
announcement of a £3m investment programme to
upgrade branch facilitates. The Northern Bank
announcement also stated that the closures will
see no job losses. After these cuts, the
Northern Bank will maintain a network of 83
branches across Northern Ireland.
Unfortunately, the closures will see the axe
fall on two East Belfast branches of the bank
with the nearest branch to Ballyhackamore, being
the Knock Branch.
