News: Belfast Christmas Lights 2010
If it's a date you mark in your dairy,
take note, the City of Belfast will switch on its Christmas Lights on Saturday 20 November 2010. The evening promises to be quite an event with Belfast City Entertainment starting at 6pm.
The Council Sate:
'The event will be hosted by Lord Mayor Councillor Pat Convery and special guests, including pantomime characters and children's TV favourites. Angelina Ballerina and Alice along with Robyn the postman will perform 'Mouseland's Greatest Dancer' and fellow TV favourites Sportacus and Stephanie UK actors (officially approved by LAZYTOWN) will encourage the audience to 'Get Active'. There will also be a performance by the City of Belfast School of Music Cantanti.'
The 20th November will also see the opening of the annual Christmas
Continental market in the grounds of the City Hall (at approx. 8pm).
As usual the market will offer inspiration to those seeking out unusual Christmas gifts. On offer will be a stunning range of crafts, food and decorations from across Europe and beyond.
Beware: Road Users can expect significant disruption/diversions around the City Hall during the event, with Wellington Place, Donegall Square North, Chichester Street and Donegall Place being closed.
