First we had the car clamping club but now. . .
they clamp you and then the next day carry it off for destruction!!
Northern Ireland is fast catching you with places like London in how it deals with road tax evaders. However, in an age of recycling why would you remove a perfectly good car, fail to provide adequate notice to the owner and then destroy it. It defies belief! Granted everyone should pay their tax but there are a few reasons why that may not be possible and these new practices fail to take this into account. The person could be in prison and unable to pay and has other things on their mind, the person may be elderly and the recent bad weather has kept them house bound, the person may have had the car stolen of private property were tax is not required, the person may be away on business.....the list is endless, but demonstrates that all reasonableness has gone out of the system. The onus should be on the authorities to make reasonable attempts to contact the lawful owner before disposing of, not destroying, but disposing of the vehicle.
Editorial
It appears to be a bias practice for the practitioners of such a trade are not a willing to conduct such a practice in 'no-go' areas of this city and country. It speaks volumes when it is the law abiding areas which are once again targeted with an iron fist and which are dealt a pre-determined justice with no time to respond or defend themselves. Justice and compassion has been evicted by such practices and needs quickly to be restored.
