News: Jim
Allister TUV Speaks Out!
Traditional Unionist Voice leader Jim
Allister responding to the public outrage over
politicans expenses has said public trust in
politicians had been "rocked to its
core".
Commenting on the issue he said "In
Northern Ireland the added dimensions of
double-jobbing and family-dynasty building, has
added to the public contempt"
Empathizing with the struggle of ordinary
citizens Mr. Allister hit the nail on the head,
for it can not be acceptable as Northern Ireland
unemployment marches towards 50,000 with no sign
of either the First or Deputy First
Minister re-routing it, for Peter Robinson to
hold or have held the following jobs:
First Minister
DUP Party Leader
MP
MLA
Directorship - Glenveagh Ltd
Shareholder in Union Arch - property development
Former Member of Hanwood Trust
Former Member of Tullycarnet Trust
Former Member of Castlereagh Council,
whilst his wife Iris is employed as:
Councillor on Castlereagh Council
MP
MLA
Chairperson of the Assembly Health Committee
Mr. Allister's conciliatory comments are in
stark contrast to that of the First Minister who
like the Speaker of the House of Commons appears
out of step with the public mood. His comments
about some people only being happy if MP's are
staving and on park benches beggared belief.
This Expense scandal could be the best thing to
have happened to Northern Ireland for it has
angered people enough to change voting habits,
based not only on this issue but also on issues
such as being able to hold more than one full
time job and employing your relatives, for
whether salaried or un-salaried, expensed or
un-expensed, an MP should be a full time job and
the Democratic Unionist Party have more to
explain on how individuals within it are able to
hold down all these full time jobs
simultaneously.
