| In interview Peter Robinson stated 'I think if MP's slept on a Park Bench and starved themselves that would still be too much for some people', comments that some constituents and DUP voters couldn't believe. The comments appeared to show a contempt not only for those who elected him and his wife, but they appeared to lack basic Christian compassion and understanding for those who in times of such great hardship have to sleep on park benches, in doorways or those who fortunes mean they have to sell copies of the Big Issue outside shops, such as those close to Peter Robinson's East Belfast home.
A man who works as: 1. An MP 2. An MLA 3. First Minister 4. DUP Party Leader 5. Directorship - Glenveagh Ltd 6. Shareholder in Union Arch - property development 7. Former Member of Hanwood Trust 8. Former Member of Tullycarnet Trust 9. Former Member of Castlereagh Council This sort of man will never starve, this sort of man will never sleep on a park bench, surely if he ever came close to such a state his wife Iris would spare him a few bob from her jobs: 1. Councillor with Castlereagh Council 2. MP 3. MLA 4. Chairperson of the Assembly Health Committee Is this list of jobs an insult to the people of East Belfast seeking work in these difficult times? Take comfort that in this one family at least, not only are husband and wife thriving, but Peter Robinson employs his daughter and son at public expense and his wife employs the other son and daughter-in-law. Oh how times have changed here on Walton's Mountain! Last Updated 18th May 2009 |
