‘Love Your Zoo’ week at Belfast Zoo!

Gather your family ‘troop’ and ‘swing’ by Belfast Zoo, your local zoo, to celebrate this year’s ‘Love Your Zoo’ week. Belfast Zoo have lots of fun filled days with ‘zootastic’ activities planned for zoo visitors over ‘Love Your Zoo’ week.

Belfast Zoo have activities running on 26 and 27 May and the 1 and 2 June. Zoo visitors will get the chance to learn about their favourite animals, learn about zoo conservation efforts, participate in treasure hunts and get involved in fun filled ‘zootastic’ activities.

You can participate in the zoo treasure hunts from 10am on both the 26 May and 2 June for a chance to win some ‘zooper’ prizes. On these days you can also attend zoo keeper talks and animal feeding times.

On the 27 May the zoo has a range of activities for all the family: face painting, garden games, Mr Hullaballoo and a scrap percussion workshop! On 1 June the activities include: meet the education animals, animal enrichment workshops and craft workshops. Don’t forget the zoo will also have daily keeper talks and feeding times on both days, there is something ‘zooper’ for the whole family during ‘Love Your Zoo’ week, at Belfast Zoo.

Zoo Manager, Alyn Cairns, said: ‘We are always thrilled with the support we receive from our visitors all year round, we welcome visitors to join Belfast Zoo’s ‘Love Your Zoo’ week so that they can celebrate their local zoo and find out more about our conservation efforts.’’

Love Your Zoo week is an annual nationwide event founded by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) which helps promote the important work British and Irish Zoos and Aquariums do with regards to conservation, education and research.

Belfast Zoo is dedicated to the safeguarding and conservation of animals across the globe. Belfast Zoo is a member of BIAZA, the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and the World Association of Zoo and Aquariums (WAZA).
